The Cuban Economic Embargo: Time for a New Approach?
The embargo was justified in 1961, by Fidel Castro's aggressive alliance with the Soviet Union. But after the collapse of the Soviet Communist system almost a decade ago, after the departure of Soviet support, and the withdrawal of Cuban troops from places such as Nicaragua and Angola, the embargo has lost its Cold War rationale.
