NERC: Research Ships and Supporting Facilities
The NERC operates two general purpose oceanographic research vessels, the RRS Charles Darwin and RRS Discovery. These vessels are equipped specifically for deep sea oceanographic research and study and are UK registered Class VII cargo vessels.
