Sixteen Going on Seventeen is a show tune from the 1959 Rogers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music. In the show it is sung by the captain's eldest daughter, Liesl, and Rolf Gruber the messenger boy, who delivers the captain's telegrams, and ends up betraying the family, after being told he will never be a Nazi by Georg.
