The 8888 Uprising (Burmese: ၈၄လုံး or ရ္ဟစ္လေးလုံး; MLCTS: hrac le: lum:) was a national revolution in Burma (Myanmar) emanding democracy in 1988. The uprising began on August 8, 1988, and from this date (8-8-88), it is known as the "8888 Uprising".
