Agranulocytosis is an acute conition involving a severe and dangerous leukopenia (reduction in the number of white blood cells) in the body. The name literally means an increase of agranulocytes, but it is more commonly understood as a lack of granulocytes. The term "granulocytopenia" is a near synonym.
