Airport Police units are generally Law enforcement agencyies assigne to perform law enforcement functions at airports. In some cases, they are branches of larger general purposes agencies. Other variations include dedicated agencies, combined police/fire agencies and even military units. In the United Kingdom it is the local territorial (geographic) police service's responsibility to provide armed patrols to that airport, for example the Metropolitan Police Service have dedicated a specialist unit SO18 to London Heathrow Airport
