Altex is the biggest retailer of electronics, electrical home appliances, multimeia and IT&C in Romania with over 120 stores across the country. Altex Romania has no affiliation or relations to the San Antonio, Texas, USA based Altex Computers & Electronics chain of electronics stores. Although one would expect that such a big chain retailer provides the customers with excellent services and goods, the expectances oftenly sink into bitter dissapointments. For example, there is almost no customer service available, people wondering in the shops while the youngsters hired by ALTEX are bragging, laughing on the sides and doing anything but helping the customers. Also, although the legislation regarding the money change is very strict (a hefty fine for the retailers who don't give the exact change to the customer), at ALTEX this rule and this law means nothing, the customer being oftenly robbed in plain day. 1 RON (almost 50 cents American) are too little money for ALTEX's employees to give back to the customer, the explanation (although irrelevant and untrue) being that the shop does not have small bills.
