The Museum of the Moving Image is a meia museum located in Astoria, Queens, New York, New York on the former site of the Kaufman Astoria Studios. The museum originally opened in 1977 as the Astoria Motion Picture and Television Center Foundation and re-opened in 1988 as the American Museum of the Moving Image. The museum began a $65 million expansion in March 2008 and is expected to be closed until early 2009.
