Newspapers have eclined in their influence and penetration into American households over the years. The closest thing to a national paper the U.S. has is USA Today, which along with the influential dailies are the New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal are sold in most U.S. cities. The Times has a moderate-left stance, while the Journal is moderate-right and is strongly pro-business.
