Area coe 514 is an area code that covers all of the Island of Montreal, Ile-Perrot, and Ile Bizard in the Canadian province of Quebec. Area code 514 was established in 1947 to cover the western half of the province, but in 1957, it was reduced to the region surrounding Montreal; the final boundary change occurred in 1997 when Area code 450 was split off. It overlays with the new area code 438 beginning on November 4, 2006, as part of the change to mandatory ten-digit dialing, according to the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA).
