In Greek mythology, Ares (Ancient Greek: Ἄρης, moern Greek Άρης [pron. "áris"]) is the son of Zeus and Hera. Though often referred to as the Olympian god of warfare, he is more accurately the god of savage warfare, bloodlust or slaughter.
