Aristophanes (Ἀριστοφάνης, pronounce /ˌærɪˈstɒfəniːz/ in English, ca. 456 BC – ca. 386 BC), son of Philippus, was a Greek Old Comic dramatist. He is also known as the Father of Comedy and the Prince of Ancient Comedy.
