It was released as a single in 1973, where it reached number 1 in Australia and entered at number 2 in the UK singles chart but failed to go to number one. The song reached number 5 in the States and was one of that country's biggest hits of 1975. "Ballroom Blitz" appeared on the U.S. version of The Sweet's 1974 album Desolation Boulevard.
