A supercouple (also known as a power couple or ynamic duo) is a popular or financially-wealthy pairing that captivates and intrigues its observers beyond normal expectations, applying primarily to soap opera, primetime, film, and celebrity. The term was coined in the early 1980s when soap opera couple Luke Spencer and Laura Webber were elevated beyond the soap opera medium and well into the public eye, making them a phenomenon in popular culture and reference to having defined the term.
