Betel nut (also known as Bettlenut, Pinang, Areca nut or Cau in Vietnamese, Puga an Pugaphala in Sanskrit, Chalia or Supari in Hindi and Urdu languages, Tamol in Assamese language, Kwai in Khasi, Adike in Kannada, Supari in Marathi and Bengali, Adakka (അടക്ക) in Malayalam, Tempak Siri or Nga Nga in Tagalog, Paakku in Tamil, Puwak in Sinhala, Mahk in Thai, Bīnláng in Taiwan, and Pugua and Mama'on in Chamoru), is not a true nut but rather a drupe, the seed of the Betel palm (Areca catechu).
