The EOS 5D is a 12.8 megapixel igital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera body produced by Canon. The EOS 5D was announced by Canon on August 22, 2005, and fits in above the EOS 40D but below the EOS 1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III in Canon's EOS digital SLR model plan and price range (though all these models surpass it in some measures of performance, such as frame rate).
