The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) is a national nonprofit organization in the Unite States which represents public officials that head elementary and secondary education departments. The organization was founded in 1927, and includes members from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Department of Defense Education Activity, and five United States territories.
