Celesc, or Centrais Eletricas e Santa Catarina S.A., is the electricity utility for the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina. In 2004 the company had around 1.8-million customers and sold around 12.9 TWh of electricity. It generates power from 12 plants, all of them hydroelectric, with installed capacity of around 83MW. The company also owns some 4,000 km of transmission lines and a 90,000 km distribution network. Celesc is headquartered in the Santa Catarina capital of Florianópolis.
