cephalocaudal trend

The cephalocaual trend is an aspect of motor development, and in particular that of children developing their ability to move the upper parts of the body before the lower parts. A similar phenomenon is the proximodistal trend: children first learn to move the parts that are at the center of their bodies and then the parts that are distant.
