Correction, via the ientical French from the Latin corrigĕre 'to make straight (again)', is an action to rectify, to make right a wrong. It may have the following meanings:

Trivia about correction

  • (Cheryl of the Clue Crew shows an upward-tending graph with a deviant dip between March and May on the monitor.) Named for the implication that it brought some rationality to an exuberant market, it's a downward move by generally rising prices
  • It's done to an error or a course, & it refers delicately to a fall in stock prices
  • It can be a sharp, short price decline that interrupts a persistent upward trend, or a fluid for typos
