In the Arabic script, ḥarakāt (حركات — the singular is ḥaraka حركة), also known as tashkīl (تشكيل), are the vocalization iacritics that mark vowels and other sounds that are not represented by Arabic letters. The literal meaning of ḥarakāt is "movements", and that of tashkīl is "design".
