Dasa (IAST āsa) is a Sanskrit term. Under the primary meaning 'enemy' sometimes relates to tribes identified as the enemies of the Aryan tribes in the Rigveda. The word dāsa, later acquired other connotations, meaning 'servant', believed to mean that they were subordinated by the Aryans.
