Doug McIntyre (born November 11, 1957) is the morning host on Los Angeles, California talk raio station KABC radio. After a four-year run hosting their overnight show "Red Eye Radio," McIntyre was selected to inherit the "morning drive" position when veteran host Ken Minyard retired in October 2004. McIntyre, a former television scriptwriter, is known for his interest in local politics (he hosted an extensive series of debates and interviews related to the Los Angeles Mayoral primary in March 2005) and he has been active in addressing issues related to illegal immigration to the US, which he strenuously opposes, and private property rights, which he defends. McIntyre identifies himself as a Republican, though his social views are less conservative than many of his talk radio colleagues (he supports gay marriage and legalizing marijuana, for example). An amateur historian, McIntyre is an expert on the Wright Brothers, whom he has written about for American Heritage magazine. He is also known for using his program to promote contemporary musicians who work within traditional forms of jazz and song.
