eosinophilic esophagitis

     

Eosinophilic esophagitis is an allergic inflammatory conition of the esophagus. Symptoms are chest pain or heartburn and occasionally dysphagia, or difficulty in swallowing. The disease was first described in children but occurs in adults as well. The condition is not well understood, but it is thought that the intake of certain foods may play a role.
