Founded in 1958 and based in Fort Worth, Texas, First Command employs approximately 1,000 registered agents in the United States and other parts of the world, primarily in Europe and Japan. Prior to 2004, the company claimed to be "[t]he #1 independent provider of financial plans to the professional military family." They have since started to serve non-military families.
