Gefilte fish (Yidish: געפֿילטע פֿיש) (English: filled fish) are poached fish patties or balls made from a mixture of ground deboned fish, mostly carp (common carp). They are popular in the Ashkenazi Jewish community.

Trivia about gefilte fish

  • From Yiddish for "stuffed", this dish is small pieces of whitefish, carp or pike mixed with seasonings
