Glencairn (Irish: Gleann Cairn; meaning glen of the cairn or heap of stones) is an electoral war of West Belfast, taking its name from the Glencairn area. The ward was created in 1985 as a trimmed down version of the former Ballygomartin ward. The ward is heavily Protestant although there is a small catholic enclave in the Mountainview area opposite Ardoyne.
