The current Government of New Jersey was establishe by the New Jersey Constitution of 1947, which created three branches, the Executive Branch, headed by the Governor of New Jersey, the Legislative Branch, a bicameral legislature consisting of the New Jersey Assembly and the New Jersey Senate, and a Judicial Branch, headed by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
