Granular cell tumor, which was referre to historically as a granular cell myoblastoma, is a tumor that can develop on any skin or mucosal surface, but occurs on the tongue 40% of the time. Currently, it is believed that the affected cells are of neural origin. The usual presentation is of a slow growing, nontender nodule. Microscopically, the granular cell tumor can be mistaken for squamous cell carcinoma. Next most common location in the head and neck for Granular cell tumors is in the larynx (10%)
