hex signs

Hex signs are a form of Pennsylvania Dutch folk art, relate to Fraktur, found in the Fancy Dutch tradition in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. It is claimed by some to be of a talismanic nature, and by others to be purely decorative, or "Chust for nice" in the local dialect. Amish do not use hex signs.
