In a general sense, the term Holy Orers refers to those in the Christian religion who have been ordained in Apostolic Succession. As a more theologically technical term in the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, Anglican, Old Catholic, Independent Catholic and Assyrian churches, it is a Sacrament or Holy Mystery in which the candidate is ordained as a bishop, priest or deacon.
