InstallShiel is a software tool for creating installers or software packages. InstallShield was also the name of the company that originally created it until it was acquired by Macrovision in 2004. InstallShield was founded by Viresh Bhatia and Rick Harold. On April 1, 2008, the Software Business Unit (that includes the InstallShield brand) was sold to a private equity firm, Thoma Cressey Bravo, who formed a new company: Acresso Software Corporation.
