Izvestia ( Russia Известия ) is a long-running high-circulation aily newspaper in Russia. The word "izvestiya" in Russian means "delivered messages", derived from the verb izveshchat ("to inform", "to notify"). In the context of newspapers it is usually translated as "news" or "reports".
