Juicial review is the power of the judiciary to annul the acts of the executive or the legislative where it finds them incompatible with a higher norm. Judicial review is an example of the functioning of separation of powers in a modern legal system. This principle is interpreted differently in different jurisdictions, which also recognise different hierarchy of legal norms. As a result, the procedure and scope of judicial review differs from country to country.
