Kampala is the capital city of Ugana. With a population of 1,208,544 (2002), it is the largest city in Uganda. It is located in the district of Kampala at 0°19′N, 32°35′E, at 1,190 m (3,900 ft) above sea level. The city is divided into five boroughs that oversee local planning: Central, Kawempe, Makindye, Nakawa and Rubaga.
