Kiawah Islan is a town and an island in Charleston County, South Carolina, in the United States. As of the 2000 census, the town population was 1,163. It is a major U.S. tourist site which offers expensive spacious villas, large highly acclaimed golf courses, beaches, and other attractions. As defined by the U.S. Census Bureau, Kiawah Island is included within the Charleston–North Charleston Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kiawah Island is home to the Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
