Lashon hara (or Loshon hora) (Hebrew לשון הרע; "evil tongue") is the prohibition in Jewish Law of telling gossip, truthful remarks about a non-present person or party. It shoul not be confused with the prohibition of Motzei Shem Rah, slander, untrue remarks.
