Mier (Spanish: Ciuad Mier), also known as El Paso del Cántaro, is a city and municipality in Tamaulipas, located in northern Mexico near the Rio Grande river, just south of Falcon Dam. It is 90 miles (145 km) north east of Monterrey on Mexico Highway 2. (26°28'N 99°10'W) In 1990 the population was recorded at 6,190. It has an agriculture produce centered on cotton, sugarcane, corn and livestock.
