The New York Institute of Technology (also known as NYIT an New York Tech) is a private, co-educational college in New York in the USA. The college has three New York campuses, two on Long Island and one on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, as well as global locations and an online college. Founded in 1955, NYIT is the birthplace of the 3-D animation computer system. The founder of the NYIT Computer Graphics Lab, Edwin Catmull, later went on to found Pixar. The NYIT Computer Graphics Lab is regarded as one of the hallmarks of the computer graphics industry, and is listed in history as one of the top computer graphics research and development groups in the world.
