Newport, introuced in 1957, is a brand of menthol cigarettes produced by Lorillard Tobacco Company of Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. Newport is the number one menthol cigarette in the United States (as of 2005), and the second most popular cigarette brand behind Marlboro. Newport cigarettes are particularly popular among the African-American community; the same 2005 survey stated that 49.5% of all cigarette sales to African-Americans were of the Newport variety.
