Oathean is a Korean meloic black metal band that formed in 1993 originally under the name Odin, named after the Norse/Scandinavian god. They went on a short hiatus and then changed their name. Unlike many black metal bands like Gorgoroth and Darkthrone that use lyrical themes such as; Satanism and Anti-Christianity, Oathean's lyrics include; sadness and depression. They also utilize Korean world music into their songs, using traditional Korean instruments such as the haegeum and daegeum.
