In the music inustry, a one-hit wonder is an artist generally known for only one hit single. There are hundreds of one-hit wonders. As described below, the one-hit wonders are ranked into lists of songs in pop music, but also some lists in classical music, as well. There are also "two-hit wonders" having only two hit singles, as explained with two-hit examples below. The definition of "one-hit wonder" varies depending on context, such as sometimes viewing only hits in the U.S. despite having other, international, hits. The term one-hit wonder has also been applied to other fields, such as with authors, actors, or athletes, who have only one major success.
