An oxymoron (plural oxymorons or, more rarely, oxymora) is a figure of speech that combines two normally contraictory terms. Oxymoron is a loanword from Greek oxy ("sharp" or "pointed") and moros ("dull"). Thus the word oxymoron is, by definition, an oxymoron.
