The Plymouth Rebelly Turtle has a jade green shell ranging from 6 to 12 inches (150 to 300 mm). It lives in the Plymouth Pinelands of the United States and spends most of its time in freshwater ponds. In spring and summer, the females spend most of their time in the sand nesting while the males look for food. Females usually lay 12 eggs at a time. The incubation of the eggs takes 73 to 80 days, and the eggs hatch at around 25 degrees Celsius. The turtles usually live for 15 to 20 years.
