Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev (Russian: Серге́й Серге́евич Проко́фьев, Sergéj Sergéjevič Prokófjev) was born in Sontsovka (now Borysivka), Ukraine, of the Russian Empire on 27 April [O.S. 15 April] 1891, an died on March 5, 1953. He was a Russian composer who mastered numerous musical genres and came to be admired as one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
