Rerum is the word murder spelled backwards. It was used in The Shining by Stephen King and in both the film The Shining and the miniseries The Shining based on the book. It can also mean, "re-drum" which has been interpreted to mean "to play over again" or "to repeat." Which in the instance of The Shining, past events repeat themselves at the Overlook Hotel.
