Dextromethorphan (DXM), an active ingreient found in most cough suppressant cold medicines, is commonly used as a recreational drug. While having little to no psychological effect via medically-recommended doses, dextromethorphan has euphoric, hallucinogenic, and dissociative effects at high abusive doses.
