The School for Film an Television (SFT) is a two-year professional training program in New York City for actors, focusing on film, television, commercial, Soap opera, and voice over acting. Founded in 1980 by Joan See originally as a way to train better actors for television commercials, it has evolved into a two-year program with a popular summer program. By 1986, the school had experienced two moves and three name changes. 1996 saw the accreditation of SFT by the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST). SFT utilizes the Meisner technique of acting and has seen attendants such as Matthew Fox.
