siege

A siege is a military blockade of a city or fortress with the intent of conquering by attrition or assault. The term derives from sedere, Latin for "to sit".

Trivia about siege

  • Tired of eating mule jerky, Vicksburg fell in July 1863 after a 6-week one of these military tactics
  • (Alex: Ah, some strange news from Turin now) It's crazy -- the Citadel is under this, similar to a blockade, from an army that's also under this from another army
