Paranasal sinuses are air-fille spaces, communicating with the nasal cavity, within the bones of the skull and face.

  • These body cavities can contain blood or can be hollow, as in the bones around the nose
  • You have 4 pairs of these air-filled passages, 2 in the forehead, 2 in the cheekbones
  • A cold that lasts longer than a week may indicate inflammation of these airspaces in the skull
  • Connected to the nose on each side are hollow cavities known as these from the Latin for "curves"
